Beijing Cartoon and Animation Competition
2009 Beijing International Digital Media Art Festival

 
Digital media and animation Student Competition works through creation selection, tutorials and exhibition-related activity to explore and inspire students to understand the international standards of animation workflow. It is to also, inspired students’ creative potential, strengthen their art foundation, and enhance creative thinking in young creative talents for the local digital media.

Competition also invites well-known CG art and industry experts as judges, and holds academic and tutorial lectures for the contest. A series of activities will introduce the animation development trends, the latest ideas, and create a communication platform for those young artists. This will also expand their vision, and drive the training of CG art to the international standard.

Submission

Animation        2D or 3D Animation Work or Visual effect work (less than 3mins)
Comic              Single illustration, four-frame comic strips, or story comic works
Digital Media  Single-channel video works (less than 15mins)

 Entry Requirements
1. Original works, you can not infringe the copyright from other people. Free topic.
2. Single illustration works, the four-frame or multiple-frame comic strips, comic book story (short comic, medium-length comic, full-length comic) no color restriction.
3. Story requirements: structure, plot integrity, clear topic, strong story.
4. All works should keep integrity, includes visual effects, artistic and interesting.
5. All works require fresh idea, a clear subject. Content should be positive, language norms, both meaningful and artistic. Do not contain pornography, violence, blood and other harmful content.

Submission Requirements
Common requirements
1) Participants can register multiple entries. Hand in each work with an entry form (available through the official website, copy valid).
2) No entry fee or any other fees.
3) Works do not return back, please keep copies in hand.

Animation work requirements
1) Submit a High definition DVD disc or electronic file, attached with idea explanation and the entry form. Indicate the name of the work, producer’s first name and surname, contact info and the name of institute.
2) Hand in three frames of electronic documents to be simultaneously stored as TIFF (color CMYK Figure 300 DPI; grayscale black and white 600 DPI) and JPG (medium compression ratio, 100 DPI) in two formats, and burn them to CD.
